Mo's Bio

Maurice "Mo" Hill, Jr. currently works as Dean of Upper School Enrollment at his alma mater, Cranbrook Schools. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Mo's positive entrepreneurial spirit and passion for community building have aided in his career in education. Mo graduated from Wesleyan University (CT) with a double major in African American Studies and Sociology. In 2023, he received his Master of Arts degree in Independent School Leadership from the Klingenstein Center at Teachers College, Columbia University. His admissions career started when he was a first-year work-study student at Wesleyan, where he would pack boxes for the deans of admission. Mo was determined to learn as many facets of the admissions process as possible and has served in various capacities in the admissions and independent school world since then, including overseeing multicultural recruitment for Kenyon College, volunteering with College Horizons to assist indigenous populations with the college search process, planning events diversity events and conferences for high schoolers in independent schools, and advising student affinity groups every year of his professional career. Mo’s greatest joy is helping students achieve their goals. He does that through honest conversations, removing barriers to access, and teaching students that they must honor and harness the power of their identities and become active agents in their lives and learning.
